Umgone measures one minute of your speech, with our own code on our own server: no other company hears it. This page says what we keep, why, who helps us, how long each thing stays, and how to delete it. In short: your recording is deleted as soon as it is measured, nothing writes down the words you said, and we never make a voiceprint.
Who we are
Umgone is run by AI Technology, the business responsible for your data here: it runs this website and decides how the data on this page is used. For anything about your data, write to hello@umgone.com.
Your recording
Before anything is recorded, the voice test asks your permission on its own screen, with these words (in use since October 26, 2026): “Your recording goes to our own server, where our code measures your pace, pauses, pitch, loudness and the sound of your voice (such as resonance and clarity). No other company gets it, and we delete the recording as soon as it is measured. We never make a voiceprint, and we never use your voice to tell who you are.” The microphone does not open before you agree and press Start recording.
- each recording goes from your browser to our own server, and nowhere else: no AI service and no other company hears it or gets a copy;
- our own code measures it there: your pitch, and the pace, pauses and loudness of your voice;
- we delete your recording as soon as it is measured. It is never used to train an AI, never sold and never shown to anyone;
- record only yourself: the prompts are for one person speaking, and the site takes no uploaded recording, because a meeting’s recording holds other people’s voices.
The words you said
Nothing writes down the words you said: no transcript is made, so none is kept. We keep your numbers until you delete them.
A minute of speech can say anything about you, so we keep none of it. What we keep of a result is only its numbers:
- the day you recorded;
- the prompt you answered;
- how long the take was;
- how many seconds of it were your voice;
- the middle of your pitch;
- how much your pitch moved;
- your words a minute, once the page shows them;
- your pauses a minute, once the page shows them;
- how many of them were long.
A number is kept only when the result showed it.
No voiceprint
We never make or keep a voiceprint or any other biometric identifier, and nothing we keep can tell who is speaking. Your voice is used only to measure the minute you recorded. We never ask, guess or keep your sex or gender, and we never say what a recording shows you felt.
Adults only
Umgone is for adults. Before your first recording, the site asks your year of birth: if you are under 18, it stops, and nothing is recorded or kept. We use the year only for that check and do not keep it. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Keeping the free takes fair
The free takes are 3 a day per person (the voice test and the four tools share them), and the free drill is one a day. To count them:
- our server gives your browser a cookie with a random code (the browser cookie, under Cookies). Our server keeps only a one-way code made from it, never the cookie itself;
- so that clearing cookies does not reset the count, our server also keeps a one-way code made from your internet address (for a connection on IPv6, from its first half, which every device in the home shares);
- each count is kept for its day and the next (in UTC), then deleted. A one-way code cannot be turned back into the cookie or the address.
Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a request to measure comes from a person and not a robot, in most cases without a puzzle, under Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Cookies
Umgone sets one cookie of its own, and it is strictly necessary:
- the browser cookie (
vc_bid), set when you start a take or a drill: a random code that counts your free takes and drill. It lasts a year, and the Delete my data button removes it.
Cloudflare, which protects the site, may set a strictly necessary security cookie of its own when it checks for robots. We set no advertising cookie and nothing that follows you to other sites, and we use no Google Analytics, no advertising tracker and no social-media pixel, so there is no cookie banner. Where the law asks your permission before a cookie that is not strictly necessary (the EU, the EEA, Switzerland and the UK), Umgone sets none without asking you first.
Payments
Nothing on Umgone costs money today, and nothing charges you. Before a paid plan goes on sale, this page will say what we keep for it; its payment will be made on a page run by Stripe and Link, so your card number goes to them, never to us.
If you write to us
We keep your message and our answer for up to two years, so we can help you again with the same question, or until you ask us to delete them.
Who helps us
- Cloudflare checks that a request to measure comes from a person (Turnstile), and will deliver the website and forward the mail written to us.
- Vultr hosts our server, where your recording is measured and the numbers and the daily counts are kept.
We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising, and we give it to no one else unless the law requires it. These companies may handle it outside your country, including in the United States. When they do, the transfer is covered by each company’s data processing terms: the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or, for a company certified under it, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. For visitors in the United Kingdom, the same terms add the UK’s addendum to those clauses or, for a certified company, the UK Extension to that Framework. Write to hello@umgone.com for a copy. Ask us at hello@umgone.com and we will tell you the name of each company that handles your data for us.
Why we may use it
- your recording: your permission, which you can take back at any time by not recording again;
- the daily counts and the robot check: to keep the free takes fair and the site safe, which we have a real need to do;
- a message you send us: to answer it.
How long we keep it
- a recording: until it is measured, then deleted;
- the words you said: never written down, so never kept;
- your numbers: until you delete them;
- the one-way codes that count the free takes and drill: for their day and the next;
- the browser cookie: a year in your browser, or until you delete it;
- a message you send us: up to two years.
Our server’s error logs hold only what went wrong, never a recording, the words you said or your internet address.
Deleting your data
Open the Delete my data page in the browser you used and press Delete this browser’s data: everything our server keeps under this browser’s code is deleted at once, and the cookie with it. For anything else, write to hello@umgone.com.
Your rights, wherever you live
You may ask to see what we keep about you, to have a copy of it, to correct it or to delete it, to take back a permission you gave, or to object to how we use it. Write to hello@umgone.com: we answer within 30 days, and we give these rights to everyone, not only where the law asks. If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom or another place with a data protection authority, you may also complain to it.
Changes
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change is about what leaves your device, the site asks your permission again before your next recording.
